Its an Everyday Life

As I headed to work today, I looked at guys as they also head to work. No smiles, faces look worn out yet its still seven in the morning. Its then that I realize that as much as life may seem smooth for me (trust me it isn't!), not everyone can say amen to that. To some people everyday is a struggle, some to stay alive, some to get that house, some to lose weight, to get a boyfriend or girlfriend, to dump one.... I believe the list is endless.

The bottom line is everyday we look for a reason, a reason why we need to wake up and take a shower, leave the house and head out into the world, we need a reason why we work so hard, why we do the things we do everyday, a reason why we are alive. To lack this reason can very well lead to a fit of depression if not carefully checked. For some people the reasons are good, to earn a daily bread, to make her happy, to be able to buy a car next year, again, its a near impossible list to write. For others the reasons are bad, evil and not worth mentioning. These need prayers. Only God can judge them.

Its just struck me that our elections approach. As the inevitable clock ticks on, our politicians are at their wits end (that sounds funny, doesn't it?) trying to show the people that they can bring a change. You see its an everyday life for them, sit idle and just eat money, like dormant volcanoes, then suddenly erupt and vehemently insist that they are the saviors. I think they have just come to the end of their road. Kenyans, vote well this year, vote against suffering, vote against liars, vote against corruption and tribalism; vote for better living standards and less taxes on the people, vote for your children. Vote for peace.

We all know that choices have consequences, and we all should be ready and willing to face them as we, in our oblivious state of mind carry on with our everyday lives. The day to vote will come, so vote wisely, the day to marry will come, start preparing for it now in your day to day life. Be kind, polite, make yourself look good. Indeed a baobab tree comes from a very small seed. Similarly, all the good and finer things that I and you want in life can only be realized if we start making the necessary changes and plans now. It starts with a choice. Make one today.
